The album, funded by Hull City Arts Unit through Larkin25 and The Philip Larkin Society, was released on 10 June 2010 as part of the activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the poet’s death.

The bands and singer-songwriters involved were each asked to select a Philip Larkin poem and create a musical setting or interpretation of their chosen poem. They were then given a day in Fairview Recording Studio, in Willerby, to record and mix their song.

The contributors rate among the best contemporary songwriters working in (or associated with) this city; the place where Larkin chose to spend the last 30 years of his life.

These are their songs: they speak for themselves.
